But I keep getting an error message saying that Alaska cannot confirm partner airline availability and they want me to try again, which I have done 4 times with the same result. Anyone else have this type of issue? I called Alaska CSR and am awaiting a call back.
On the phone with the CSR now...she said that she had a call with a similar issue and that her lead told her to have the flier go through JAL website and use Alaska Airlines. I expressed my surprise and skepticism and she agreed she hadn't heard of that either until her lead told her. I had the CSR on the phone while I visited the JAL website and said that there was no way to look for mileage tickets or anything and she said she didn't see anything either and is now checking with someone higher.
Turns out that for some reason, JAL actually wasn't allowing Alaska to book the premium seats even though it was showing available even though I went to the JAL website and it showed Premium saver seats available for 4 travelers. Pretty much the Alaska CSR couldn't do anything for me and just suggested I use main cabin at 30K miles. But I just found ANA seats for $331 ($411 with seat selection) and I think it is on the "Honu" so...might just pay cash?
Yeah, definitely something out of line with other partners on the HNL-HND non-stop. I found a couple of dates where AS showed 4 PE but other partners only showed 1 PE, including JAL itself (at the saver rate). I do see a number of dates where HNL-KIX is available in PE with 4 seats though, many days available connecting to HND (in Y), if that interests you.
