It's a nice enough hotel. It's not worth 1000 USD a night by any objective measurement beyond the fact that the Tokyo market is white hot with international demand and the yen is at a 40 year low. This exact same hotel would not and didn't command these prices years ago. The fact that it's selling rooms at these prices have zero to do with the quality of the hotel and everything to do with larger macroeconomic travel trends and factors. If it sounds like most people are "whiny" etc, it's because the majority of people are not traveling on OPM and super high dollar personal budgets...that just isn't representative of the huge majority of people, and the fact is this hotel is NOT "worth" the prices. The fact that greater macro issues, as stated, have filled the rooms at these prices does in no way demonstrate objective value. Certainly doesn't merit what has now been several disparaging comments about how whiny and stupid the poors are who aren't completely price insensitive and actually reasonably believe this hotel is far from a justifiable 4 digit property.
