Aside from making reservations directly at hotel chains such as Hilton or Choice, I often use a booking portal such as Expedia or Booking.com. Furthermore, I peek at places like Trivago and Tripadvisor for reviews and pricing. Today Super.com appeared to offer an attractive price for a room at a hotel I was interested in, so I signed up for what I assumed was a free online account. I didn't think much about it when the website asked for a credit card to have on file. For some reason it wouldn't accept it. I checked the information and gave up after the third try. It wasn't until I switched too another card that I realized the website was asking for the credit card expiration date in the format of MM/YYYY rather than MM/YY, so it worked on the first try with the second card.

Soon two things happened. My second card got charged, which I came to understand is a monthly fee, not something I knew of until I became aware of it during the website interaction. Then I noticed a fraud alert from the first card. It appeared that while the Super.com website couldn't accept my credit card with the date format I used, it was nevertheless able to charge the fee, each of the three times. I cleared it up with the credit card company, and the charges were gone within a few hours.

Would the above incident be representative of the overall Super.com service, would you say?
