If you upgrade DUB-DXB now and DXB-SIN becomes available later, you can still get the ‘through rate’, but only if you do that DXB-SIN upgrade through the call centre. If you do it via the website you’ll pay the higher rate and this cannot be corrected retrospectively.
In case anyone was on the edge of their seat about my impending Emirates journey...The DUB-DXB became available again so I decided to pull the trigger on it and hope the DXB-SIN leg becomes available later. As of now it seems like it's pretty empty so my chances seem decent as I'm traveling solo on the outbound. I've already managed to upgrade the return, where I will be one of two pax. I wasn't given the option to upgrade the K6 leg of the return, although I booked it through EK. I assume that's standard, but if it's possible to upgrade it as well I'm all ears.
