This doesn't always work if your employer forces you to use OTAs like Amex or Egnecia. There you have to be a bit more creative by "forcing" fares based on time of day filtering, shopping for fares with an cheap / easy up-fare path or other, more creative, approaches.

But Matrix can help certainly cough up some options to help narrow the search.
