I was talking to an RBC Avion agent today and Avion has apparently changed policy regarding use of the Statement of Credit option so that any discount codes from AC you may have (due to IFE interruption, baggage delay, etc) can't be used with your booking if you want the statement of credit to be processed. I was able to get authorization for a statement of credit, but only because the flight I wanted wasn't available. So it seems like if you want to use a statement of credit (to ensure you receive SQM/SQD) and/or discount code, one will need to get more creative than in the past.
