I booked one flight on UAL online from KRK to MUC using 6k UAL miles. This alliance flight is operated by Lufthansa. Got two PNR's for same flight, one for Luft. and one for UAL.
I booked separate Bus. seat flights from MUC to SMF using miles, received a PNR for these flights.
When I check in at KRK, will Lufthansa be able to check my luggage through to SMF because they are alliance members and was booked with UAL? I have seen several past posts with differing answers. When I called UAL, the first agent told me they could not check through to SMF, and I had to go through customs and retrieve luggage at MUC because it was a separate PNR (which I do not have time with a 90 minute connection). When I asked for a supervisor, she told me they could check luggage all the way to SMF from KRK and even said she would put some notation down internally about this. Can anyone advise who has actually done this successfully as I do not necessarily trust UAL with two different answers. Thanks!
