Indigo Auckland
Hotel Indigo Auckland (New Zealand)
What is your Priority Club status? Platinum
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, very happy. I've stayed before at the Crowne Plaza and the HI/Voco in Auckland before, and believe this property to be the better experience.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked Standard, received High(est) Floor Harbourview.
How are the rooms? Brand new, bright, and modern, albeit with some odd design choices in the living/bedroom (e.g. unlabeled master switches, carpet with sharp-edged metallic border, no closets - just clothing racks). Spacious and well-designed bathrooms with a walk-in rain shower that is among the best I've found in a mid-range property in NZ.
How is the exec. lounge? N/A
What was good and what was bad? Newly-opened in a high-rise condo-hotel tower so everything was fresh; complimentary minibar in-room (for the moment), barista cart and daily snack spread (free) in the lobby to make up for F&B venues not running yet. Friendly staff that was a bit higher touch than I would expect at an Indigo. For example, I received a personal call a day before check-in to ask about any special requests, then at check-in: proactively offered 2pm late check-out and escorted to room, also reminded of complimentary benefits in the absence of F&B venues. Provided a small box of truffles from a local chocolatier at check-out.
Location is central (although the lobby entrance isn't where Google Maps will show) and only 2 blocks away from Skytower and a short, somewhat hilly walk to both the Viaduct and Britomart.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Yes, excellent value for 32,000 points. I don't expect this property to stay at this level for long!
