While undergoing a frustrating customer service experience with Briggs & Riley Sympatico 21" International Carry-on, I thought I should share my experience....

I have nearly ten pieces of luggage from B&R and I have had things cracking/breaking with my 21" polycarbonate Sympatico carry on luggages:
  1. one developed a crack on the top cover about 13 years back for which they gave a replacement.
  2. the rolling handle snapped at the plasticy section while in Paris. They shipped me a replacement handle by Fedex and I was able to fix it.
  3. another one developed a large crack (again on the top cover) close to the wheels and I can see the fabric interior while in Sicily. I reported this on 7th Dec and it is 10 days now and I don't have a clear action plan other than that I should contact them once I return to USA and then they will give me instructions about the next step. Sounds like a cloak and dagger story unfolding.
I want to find another high quality carry on (hard sided) that is expandable - I carry it as cabin baggage when it is not expanded and then check it in when it is expanded. Unfortunately, I haven't found another brand that does that. I explore the aluminium ones like Rimowa, but they don't have the expandability, which is really important to me our holiday travels are long since I retired.

I am giving up on B&R for sure. Any ideas on replacement?
