Just another bit of "boots on the ground" info.

I am on my last day of a total of around two weeks in Argentina (Iguazu, Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata and briefly Posadas). Compared to what I have read about prices a year or two ago it seems to have changed out of all recognition.

Accommodation is still reasonable but everything else is actually quite shocking by developing world standards. I also spent 4 weeks in Montevideo and Argentina has definitely overtaken Uruguay on costs.

Prices for many things are on European levels now. I would say somewhere between Spain and the UK. I wouldn't mind that if the standards matched the prices. But they don't. Argentina is still very much a developing country.

Couple that with the hassle of dealing with the currency issues and it's just not worth it.

Don't get me wrong - I've enjoyed my time in Argentina but good value it is not.
