I've seen this too, and I think others have mentioned it earlier.
The way I went forward is declined to select seats at the time of booking (after having seen what was available) and then selected seats from MMB after the booking was completed.
This works but don’t allow you to pick a flight and see what is going on seating wise before purchase.
