While researching this morning for this thread: Historical Swissair Flight Info for Immigration

I remembered that AI 401 and other AI 4xx flights are vestigial remannts from the time when all east bound longhaul flights from DEL made a stop in CCU and vv. AI 4xx were the flights that went to S.E.Asia and Australia. Like all the AI 1xx are the westbound flights to Europe and N. America
