What was the reason for the delay? Did TK leave IST & KUL about on time.
Is "landed at 20:16" wheels down or at the gate with door open?
Were you talking to VA at T1 transfer desk or over in T2 domestic. Did VA cancel the VA SYD MEL flight or did you just no show. If cancelled or changed would have been better.
20:16 to 21:30 T1 to T2 is very tight.
You may have a EU261 claim on TK. Or may not. Duty of care should apply (Nothing to do wth VA or AC)
QF or JQ may have had a later flight. I have flown SYD MEL QF497 22:20 23:50 several times, after international flights

TK now fly IST-xxx-MEL. Are always good reasons to avoid SYD and that T1<-->T2~T3 shuffule
All good questions. Originally when I booked, it was meant to land at 18:30 into Sydney. I don't know WHEN it was changed, but when I checked in, i noticed it was landing at 19:00 now. That's fine - I still had a 2.5 hour transit time.
  • It effectively left Istanbul 25 mins late, and landed in KUL 54 mins late.
  • It left KUL 1 hour 3 mins late, and landed in Sydney 1 hour 16 mins late, at 20:16 (from the UPDATED arrival time).
  • 18:16 is landing, not at gate, that probably took 10 mins, then a 5 mins of a holdup by Border Control before we could exit. Being J Class, I was out pretty quickly.
  • I got to the VA transfer desk at SYD International around 21:05 (meaning I exited the plane, cleared customs, got my bag and was through in record time) - however the transfer desk was closed and no one was manning it. There was a note to take the bus to T2 to transfer, so I did that and the bus pretty much left right away so I could speak to someone from VA. When I got to T2, it was empty - no one from VA was there, because the last VA flight was in fact 21:30 (the last Qantas flight that day was at 22:00). There were a few passengers from other flights in a similar circumstance.
    • So I had no one to speak to about my missed flight from VA. I called them asap, and they advised that TK was responsible for rebooking my flight and to speak to them. I was effectively a no show. They said they were unable to rebook unless TK called and arranged.
  • Now mind You I called TK right away after this, I have calls to them at 21:24, 21:37 and 22:27.
  • I went back to T1 upon their advice, but the International airport was closing (like I was actually asked by security to leave at one point so they could close the departure area), the TK flight had already departed and no one was around to speak to in person. at about 23:00 I gave up and just booked my own hotel and flight back upon the advice of a TK agent saying to just do this and claim it via the feedback.
