As an alternative way to price PP, a MUA from economy to Polaris on a 12 hr transpacific flight is 30k miles and a $500 service fee. The same upgrade is available for 40 PP. That makes the extra 280 PP you get going from Platinum to 1K worth 210k MP miles plus $3,500.
