The most common enquiry for visitors to Singapore seems to be recommendations for hotels, so I thought it would assist for those that have advice to put it all in one place and have a common thread for questions. For those suggesting hotels by way of a mini review, it would assist to put the name of the hotel in the title box that appears at the top of the reply to tread box. (If you can include indicative prices and pros and cons, that would be good)

For visitors, Singapore is excellently served by public transport. The exception to this is Sentosa which can be a little more time consuming to get to/from, though it has its own benefits. Google maps will give you public transport options to your nominated destination. Do think about buses as well, they are clean, safe and efficient, though if you are a little unsteady on your feet they do accelerate and brake a little heavier than some other places. That said, the upper deck of a bus is an excellent way to get a feel for the Island. The “MyTransport SG” App is great for timings and route suggestions.

The Uber equivalent is Grab. (There are others). You need the Grab App. If you have problems linking the app to a card for payment, you can pay cash. When you’ve told the app what your journey is, you’ll be given a page with different prices for different quality of rides. At the bottom is a “Book” button. To the above and left of that is a button that allows you to choose the payment method, you can elect to pay cash there, though don’t expect the driver to have a lot of change!
