I understand that at Mumbai airport, you will be required to proceed to a separate counter to get a manual stamp on your boarding pass (not the passport) after clearing the eGate. The stamp will not be an immigration stamp, but rather to denote that you do not require an immigration stamp on the boarding pass. The counter will confirm that you have used the eGate and stamp your boarding pass accordingly.
Trust them to make this as inconvenient as possible.
