The problem is I did have several rentals over the last year, but they were all in countries where you don't earn points (e.g. Hungary, Malta). My most recent points activity was a points rental in Ireland in November 2023, so the November 2024 wipeout seems to follow.
Do I have any recourse here, based on the lack of notice or the overly strict definition of "activity"?
So sorry to hear.
https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/misc/...mc_gpr_faq.jsp says "All points in a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® member’s account will be forfeited and removed from a member’s account after twelve months of no rental activity. Rental activity means a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® point was either earned or redeemed on a rental." From the first sentence, alone, I would say you had "rental activity" and so forfeiture is incorrect. But then the second sentence redefines "rental activity" to mean something other than its dictionary meaning.
I would say it's certainly worth writing in to Hertz and pointing out that you did have a recent rental. Attach a photo or PDF of the receipt. Agent might well restore your points.
