This past weekend I flew DTW-HNL-OGG. The flight to HNL landed an hour early.

I walked up to a HA gate agent with a smile on my face and asked if I could get on an earlier OGG flight. Gate agent asked if I had any checked bags… I said no… she printed me a new boarding pass for an OGG flight boarding 15 mins later. Saved me two and a half hours at HNL.

This was with a main cabin fare booked on DL. Being in F could only help I would imagine if you have no checked bags and especially if you agree to take any seat (as I did), including in Y next to the engine on the HA 717s.
