We are experiencing the same sticker shock at the fares from LGB to SMF. $130 one way is the WGA fare, except when there is a sale. And the sales are on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, which don't match our current needs.

The obscenity is the walkup WGA fare of $364 one way when booked (or rebooked) within the week before the flight.

And our recent flights have been ~50-60% full lately, which is a complete change from the passenger loads we experienced in the fall and early winter. Granted, January/February traditionally are not great air travel months.

But this year the reduction in demand seems to be the most we have experienced.

Crossing my fingers for a good $59 fare sale. But, with the sale and leaseback of aircraft, I guess Southwest found a way to raise quick cash other than affordable fares.

The intra-California market is begging for a competitor.
