The rule for award tickets used to be either one stopover (more than 24 hours on an international flight) or an open jaw, but not both. Not sure if that restriction has changed recently.

On flights to/from Europe, you can schedule a mini-stopover in AMS by flying in one day and out the next, so long as you do not exceed the 24 hour limit. I am not familiar with the Asian schedules.
