There are more than 3 seats available, but some are currently blocked. BA can and will move people about to meet the requirements as mentioned by
Tiger_lily, if they are not already allocated seats behind the scenes. I suspect the family will end up in Row 8.
The cabin could also expand beyond row 8.
I would not be concerned at this point.

I wasn't originally thinking of booking seats, as when I last checked there were still quite a few seats together. But did the final payment today and checked and thats when I noticed. We've only got Bronze unfortunately, so no option to select yet.
Thank you all for your help. I spoke to BA on the chat and they confirmed parents will be next to children, but could be on different rows.
