I'm on an Eco Light fare. As others have said, zero free seat selection regardless of fare class you're booked into (at least in coach).
For my outbound flights I had the following interactions:
JFK LH lounge agent was able to assign me an aisle seat "further up" in the preferred section. No window seats available at all. The seat next to me remained empty for the flight so I was happy with the outcome.
MUC LH lounge agent refused to move my seat for my intra-Europe flight saying all seats were occupied (yet EF showed 9s across the board). She mentioned, "You're on an Eco Light fare and this will not be possible."
MUC gate agent when I asked for a window seat smiled and said, "Oh, I love a window seat, too." She moved me to an entirely empty row (both sides). The plane had maybe 40 people on it total. A320.
We'll see what happens on the return. I was auto-assigned aisle seats yet again on both legs with the seat maps wide open and 9s across the board on EF for both flights. At least the MUC-JFK segment is supposed to have the new Allegris seat on the A359.
