Souledges recommendation is good - you can dump all your luggage in the Oryx Garden, including any duty free booze that you would not be able to enter Doha with and metro is fast and efficient. But if you really want to change to a City hotel, attitude at desk is important as the staff are under pressure from entitled and rude passengers. I managed a hotel change previously by walking up with a big friendly smile, asking how they were, and also gifting my biz class chocolate box on premise that I cant eat chocolate. Resulted in a staff member smiling and giving me the hotel I wanted from their list. Being nice is easy !! Best quote of 2024 was "survival of the friendliest" .
