EVA Mileage Program Incredibly Frustrating
FOR AN AIRLINE WITH SUCH A GREAT TRAVEL PRODUCT, THEIR MILEAGE PROGRAM IS A JOKE.
Been trying to book an one way business class award on EVA. To say its frustrating is an understatement. They have this waiting/ waitlist system that deducts your miles and ties them up until days before the flight, which in my case is usually 350 days away. You never have any idea during this time if you will get the ticket. Great, that s what I like to do, create total uncertainly in my travel planning....Not.
If you try to book on the Star Alliance side of the redemption page, it will tell you there is availability then at the last minute right before you hit confirm it tells you there is only a waitlist. Kinda sadistic if you ask me. Booking with miles and cash is also a joke, since they give you about 25 cents (maybe less) for each point when you can get four times that in credit if you leave the points in your capital one (or Citi) account and just use the penny per point to offset the ticket cost. Why treat your customer like they are stupid? Just show zero availability when there is actually no availability, don't take someone's points to try get a waitlist ticket until the ticket actually becomes available, and don't pretend you have a miles and cash program when you pay peanuts for points as cash within your program. Lastly, have you tried calling them? God knows when they actually staff their call center, because it seems to be pretty had to figure out, especially when calling the (800) number from the USA. Thats my rant for today. get your act together EVA. Else Im just buying tickets on Starlux from now on, whose seats and PJ's are way nicer than yours.
