Glad we're exporting our high-class eating habits?
McDonalds provides fast, arguably good quality food, at a VERY reasonable price. Keyword here is FAST. And, it's fashionable (food wise at least) to emulate those Imperialist Americans.
Europeans have jumped on the fast food bandwagon just as the USA has (except I have yet to see a drive thru in Europe anywhere, but I'm sure they're not far behind) for those reasons.
These McDonalds are JAMMED. Ever think how much money those places are packing in? How many people they are employing? The fact that one can get a $1 cup of coffee, to go, when that isn't available at any of your hoity toity boutique restaurants?
And they have their own derivants: Ever been to a "Quick"? They
out-Mcdonalds McDonalds.
So before you dismiss the Imperialist American Fast Food Evil Empire and yearn for the good ole' days, remember who it is that is patronizing these places....
