AC4 NRT-YVR Jan 13th, only 50k. (Not sure where to put this, so put in here for now hope that's ok)
At NRT experienced a check-in agent that basically strong armed me into checking "at least one piece of your luggage" as the flight was full. Travelling with my partner, and after dropping our checked luggage in we had 2 carry ons, 1 backpack and my boots that we were planning to put underneath our seats.

After some back and forth with the agent (somewhat) robotically repeating the same line about how "the flight is full" and how he'd like to "check at least 1 piece of your luggage", as well as making comments about how the flight might be delayed, and while I repeatedly stated "I can't check these luggages as I have electronics/valuables I cannot check", I gave in under pressure and ended up chucking my boots + some clothes into a duffel bag I had handy and checking that in, to which he seemed satisfied. (???)

Also noteworthy is that he said my carry on (which I've travelled with for years on AC no problems) needed to fit into the sizer without forcing. Which while I find fair enough, I find a bit annoying as my luggage was bulky on the lid with clothes (that I transferred to the aformentioned duffel bag). After which removing I was able to fit 'without effort' into the sizer. (Still had to push in the lid a bit but empty air is easier to compress than clothes.)

Another point is he had a print out (with multiple languages) stating the same message he was trying to verbally communicate, of which that the flight was full and that AC would like to check any carry on baggage if possible (memory im not sure is accurate or not?). Maybe a bit emotional as I thought I made clear our bags had items we could definitely not check in, to which he insisted I re-read this piece of paper as though I had reading comprehension issues. Wish I had taken a picture of the notice for reference.

Miffed and a bit confused from the experience as I've never run into any agents as insistent as him before (on many solo SYD-YVR jaunts I've been asked to check my carry but agents had always backed down after a few stern "no"s). Safely home in YVR with all checked luggages now, but still annoyed enough to type this out.
