I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but one way to look at it is that by flying more expensive tickets you're now earning more miles faster. So the miles prices should increase to match.
That's only true when you fly AF/KL where mileage earning compared to flying partners (mileage accrual based on distance rather than EUR spent) is ridiculously low.
