Mrs. Pickles' card had to be "reset" as she didn't use it for a few years (because of the pandemic). But as mentioned by jib71, took all of 30 seconds at a manned ticket gate. One year gap is probably good to go as is.
I have a Hayakaken (Fukuoka) card that I hadn't used since a work trip in 2016. It worked fine on a trip to Tokyo in 2023 and again exactly a year later in 2024 so it may also depend on the provider of the IC card.
