A few steps ahead of you... downgraded the Brilliant to the $95 card after I got the 25 ENC which helped me get to LtP. Waited a year and change, then will reupgrade to the Brilliant a month before the anniversary to get the 85k cert
Doing the same with the Aspire
I would recommend not downgrading again right after the anniversary, lest you risk both a) ruining this strategy for everyone and b) amex coming down hard on you for what you're obviously trying to do. Probably try keeping the Brilliant open for at least a full year before re-downgrading. If everyone just re-upped for ten days around anniversary to get benefits and the re-downgraded i would not blame Amex for preventing the strategy and straight up canceling Amex accounts for abuse.
But seriously - if you like the FNC, just keep the Brilliant open and let it pay for itself that way. If you don't want the FNC, then downgrade and keep it downgraded.
