If the gym has a small ticket sales option -- like buying a water bottle or a snack -- you could try that as a test. Though if that is paid via a different register, there is some risk they may not code the same way.

I've never been able to figure out exactly when the tracker updates. It's not anywhere near real-time for me but also doesn't seem to correlate with statement close either. I always end up doing the math myself when I get close.
I'm 90% sure it only updates at statement close for me.
