The upper tier VISA Infinite Privilege and AMEX Aeroplan Black cards confer "roll-over" SQM and eUpgrades, as well as multipliers for Aeroplan points etc. IMHO worth it just for either of those. I suspect most people here with SE status have one (or both) of those cards, though not everyone. Those are the most recommended cards. I just finished booking several European holidays in J using points, and also some using instant-eUpgrades to J on Economy points and cash fares as well. Very possible, without even trying very hard.
