I don't know who decided to start this rotary shifter trend but its awful. I've got it in my Grand Cherokee and 2 years in I still can't remember what way to turn it when making a multi-point maneuver in a parking lot. Nowhere near intuitive, can we all just go back to old school shifter handles?
I remember a lot of buzz over a rotary shifter in a Jaguar that was unveiled 10 or 15 years ago. It would raise itself when the car started and lower when the car turned off. Everyone thought it was so cool. Then Chrysler adopted it and made it mainstream. Once car makers realized it was cheaper and allowed more space for cupholders and devices, they all started adopting it.
