Pretty standard stuff - re-accomodation at a hotel of comparable quality, refund of the night, and some extra stuff during our shortened stay for the inconvenience.

I had been walked before, but the hotel would have already had the re-accommodation in place. That’s why I was surprised by the original email, there was certainly a vibe of let’s see what we can get away with. For hotels there is no equivalent of DOT as a regulator to the airlines, so that’s why I was shocked with the original email, and wondering if they could just do that unilaterally.

I was not upset for being walked… more like annoyed. I was upset by the tone of the original email, but I was satisfied when I dealt with an actual person. Based on how the original email was written, I do wonder how many people don’t know how to advocate for themselves.
Glad it went well as it should. Its a very successful hotel that can easily afford its recovery efforts.
Where are you going to stay?Inquiring minds would love to know!
