Scoot Tips

I need to fly SIN-TPE on 1/30 either 1am on Scoot or 2am on CI. I am self-connecting to a 11am longhaul in Biz.
I'll want to try to sleep as much as I can on this 5hr flight. I also don't want to check a bag to avoid hassle. I will have a rollaboard bag that will be around 8or9kg. And a laptop bag around 2KG
Scoot is a LCC ofcourse. Currently about $200. Ticket includes 10KG (for carryon+personal bag). I can pay extra to add 7KG. It's a 787, I'm not sure the best seat. I could try for the bulkhead seat. Total added costs would make it around $260. I might chance it further back and hope I get a row to myself. At that hour and day 2 of CNY, I dont know how full the flight would be. I could also pay extra for ScootPlus and get their bigger seat. It comes with a 15KG carryon allowance. Plus other stuff I dont need bringing the total to $350. Doesnt seem worth it.
CI is about $380. Their carryon allows is 7KG but doesnt include the personal item. I might be able to move some things to my laptop bag and get the bag down to 7KG.

I'm leaning towards scoot since it seems cheaper even if I pay for upgrades.
Any recommendations? What about for seat selection?
