I keep checking this thread though in case someone does spot something that could clarify the bonus on awards. It hasn't happened yet despite some posters being confident in their answers when someone asks and I think it's important to be transparent in not actually knowing the answer here. I personally am not booking awards based on one way or another until knowing for sure.
That statement is saying the chart listed only applies to reservations booked directly with Alaska, which you need to do when booking with Alaska miles. They've said you need to book the award through Alaska to earn miles, so an award on AS metal booked through say American Airlines shouldn't get any EQMs.
Not to mention for years there were some award tickets that earned miles, including a COS bonus. But that was a little known mistake/glitch that I'm thinking will not have any bearing on what happens

I take "award travel" to cover any travel on award, whether it be in F, J, or Y.
In the T&C's: "Members will receive 1 elite-qualifying mile for every mile flown on tickets booked with Mileage PlanŽ Miles, including segments operated by Alaska partners. "
We won't know for sure until spring.
