You are skating on thin ice around here suggesting that BA Gold = PlatPro although AA obviously agree with you as they put us all (GGL too) in Group 2!

AA is an overall good program and they have made positive changes for any migrating BAEC members thinking of AA. You can show your BAEC membership (gold/silver), and credit to AA, and still access FLL for the time being based on FT feedback and experiences. If you can get the CCs, it's only 1 LP per USD spent, so not the best method of getting LPs vs flying.
Yes, the initial qualification is much harder, similar to BAEC GGL; but once you achieve EXP, retaining EXP is much easier since flying as an EXP gets you the best bang for the buck on LP earnings, and can be easily done within 2-3 round trip flights in F class LHR-JFK.
Only negative is that AA has a pretty bad lifetime program compared to the old BAEC; but now with the BAEC changes, AA's lifetime program is perhaps not as costly compared to BAC.
