I'm planning to fly one way from Barcelona to San Francisco in mid August with my girlfriend.

I'm going to be American Airlines Platinum in April through a Hyatt milestone award and I can get two main cabin extra awards if needed.

I can choose from an Iberian direct flight or an American flight with one stop.

The Iberian flight seems to also be available for 42k avios in economy fwiw.

I know everyone has different tradeoffs of time, cost, and comfort but I thought I'd ask if you have any suggestions on how I should proceed.
