I believe that indeed is very common practice amongst (KLM?) airline staff, especially when travelling on staff discount. A cynical person would say it might be to compensation for, or unofficially asking for, the "unpublished staff benefits" they receive on board.
But a bit more on-topic: I can imagine cabin crew is more likely to consume anything presented by a colleague than what's offered by any random passenger with most likely very good, but potentially also very bad, intentions.
