A couple more developments reported recently in the Nikkei:
  • NRT is planning to increase annual flight capacity from 300,000 to 340,000 around October 2025 (when the winter schedule starts). 340,000 is the maximum possible capacity until a third runway is built (which is several more years away and would boost capacity to 500,000). Operating hours will remain 6:00 to 0:00 daily.
  • FUK is opening a second runway on March 20. This will increase annual flight capacity from 176,000 to 188,000. The second runway will be used mainly for international departures; it is too close to permit parallel takeoffs/landings.
