My rambling thoughts…

Maybe I was spoiled at RC Fukuoka and I had too high of an expectaton coming in, (Lifetime) Titanium member here, booking cash rate. NUA didn’t clear and did not receive any upgrade, Not even to a room with a direct Lumpini park view. I find the ground floor entrance to be quite nice and luxurious, but as one goes up to the Reception level, the design starts to feel repetitive, boring and (gasp) cheap. The hotel installed really generic artwork to match the color scheme of the interiors. As a result, everything is very matchy-matchy and it lacks luxury feel. I am sure they have a long punch list, construction quality is not great. The room layout is pretty good, interiors fine but on a boring side. Cheap, tacky looking flowery artwork flanking the window sofa. Fixtures are from Gessi and Kohler (toilet is great!), but water pressure is weak. It takes a while for hot water to kick in and I am on a low floor. Night lights are horrible - way too bright on each side of the bed and in the toilet room. Silly mistake like waste basket tucked away under vanity counter making it inaccessible is really annoying.

Welcome amenity is quite nice, two trays of sweets, one bottle of Californian Cabernet Sauvignon and a dragon fruit. Breakfast spread is quite nice - I would say on the same level as Dusit Thani and Waldorf Astoria. The a la carte menu offering is quite extensive (sampled the Pad Thai and waffle). I also had dinner at Lily’s - good food quality, reasonable price, wonderful service.

Bellboy/housekeeping service is eager and sincere but not very polished. It’ll get better in time.

It’s bit of an underwhelming stay unfortunately, but I look forward to Bangkok’s next opening - Andaz next door (won’t have high hopes) and Aman.
