Conclusion
Apart from the blow of not getting into the Singapore Lounge at Heathrow and suffering prosecco in the United Club Lounge, this was a first class J experience. No blame for the lobster, the dish was nice enough and maybe in retrospect having steamed lobster on an aeroplane is something beyond the ability of any airline in any class. (Okay, in JL F it would be fine, and possibly in NH too!)
Service very prompt. Cabin staff pleasant though struggled with basic English. I struggle with basic Chinese to the point of not knowing any, so that’s no criticism.
Bed very roomy. The much vaunted QR J suite, complete with doors that fall off, was way more cramped and the AY no recline but lie flat seat needs a degree in acrobatics to use. Other seats can have much less room particularly in the foot coffin.
Overall a very enjoyable flight, one of the best J flights I have taken. I would fly BR again at the drop of as hat, although based in UK the chance is small.
My flight used Miles and Bonus frequent flyer miles, that’s Aegean Air (A3). 65,000 miles plus €368.93 one way. I may try to fly back to London using BR but the redemptions are few and far between so another carrier will benefit from jetting me home!
