Dang. Wish I saw this thread before I just booked my LH ticket. I got auto assigned aisle seats (I always prefer window) and they want 40 euro to change them (JFK-MUC is first flight). I'll live with the aisle I suppose. Hoping the trick of being able to select seats on the return flights once you're in Europe still works.
This is my first LH ticket since the change in August 2024 where they don't allow free seat changes for *G during OLCI.

to my curiosity, are you traveling on Economy Light (without checked luggage) or other Economy fares (that come with checked luggage)?
if I remember correctly, changes to seat selection policies in August 2024 were to Economy Light only, not other Economy fares?
