While I don’t like the high rates at this hotel, both cash rates and award rates, I have paid those high rates in November & December 2024 and will be paying them again for an upcoming stay in March 2025.

WHY, especially lower rates at my other favorite property the Grand Hyatt and especially at the recently renovated Hyatt Regency Tokyo?
BECAUSE of the great location of this hotel - as previously stated, I have rediscovered Ginza and we are now enamored with its cool vibes, festive atmosphere, numerous excellent restaurants (there are 2 Michelin 3 stars restaurants within 10 minutes walk and lots of superb but reasonably priced restaurants within 5 minutes walk), and the world class shopping surrounding it doesn’t hurt either. In my long post upthread, I had mentioned that the HC Ginza’s is convenient from a transportation point of view, and people don’t have to agree with me on my points.

Add in the wonderful staff, a welcoming attitude (even though suite upgrades are not easy to get), and decent breakfast and bar amenities, and it is not surprising that the hotel is constantly sold out and the rates will continue to rise.
It’s fine that you think that - but I don’t think people are being “pissy” to use your words because they are calling out that the general room and hotel quality of the Hyatt Centric doesn’t justify it being the most expensive Hyatt in the city (while PHT is closed).

If someone looked at rates without knowing anything about Tokyo, they might think the Hyatt Centric is the nicest or fanciest Hyatt in Tokyo based on price, which, in my opinion, it’s not.

It’s great that it works for you and you think paying a major premium for location (which isn’t the best location for everyone - I know I prefer other parts of Tokyo more than Ginza) is worth it, but just because others disagree with you doesn’t mean we’re “pissy.”
