I bought two iPhones from Apple on 12/16, when they hit 3.5-miles. At the 15-day mark, the miles weren't showing on eShopping, so I submitted a ticket. By the time Cartera got back to me the miles had posted.
Earlier this week I noticed, they clawed back the miles for one of the two phones. I wrote back on the response to the initial missing miles help ticket and I got back the we're going to "investigate with the merchant" email back yesterday with an 8-week timeline. The T&Cs allow for the purchase of two phones, and that's all we bought. I paid for all but $100 of the order with Apple gift cards purchased from MileagePlusX, which was 4-miles per dollar on that day. Purchases made with gift card are not excluded by the T&C and I've gotten credit for previous Apple orders partially paid by gift card.
The complicating factor with the order was the trade-in. I got back $233.20 per phone on the trade-ins. Apple sent me two gift cards for $233.20 each. I called because I wanted to get $100.00 of the trade-in back on the credit card. Within 72-hours Apple had reduced the value of one of the GCs by $100 and refunded that amount to my AMEX. My thinking is that whatever they had to do to adjust this may have somehow changed the status of the order. I should note that I've had trade-ins before on orders made through eShopping and had no issue with getting my miles. I'm hopeful this will be resolved favorably. I don't see too many problem reports on this forum RE Apple purchases.
