Happens on every airline, and every SW flight I go on is full; I don't think there's gonna be much opportunity. And if someone does that, so what? It's not your seat. If anything, maybe that idea keeps some people from paying for for the upgrade, hoping to poach, leaving the better seats for those with status to book.
