OK, I can believe they might make an exception in this case but 1) this is different than what you actually typed (you typed "f you can find a roundtrip or one-way itinerary that simply has long enough connections that it’s made up of two fares" not "a routing that has no connections within the legal time constraints") and 2) are you saying this is an official policy or just something you've had success with?
