Due to a hasty change of plans and a stressed 2am rescheduling of a booking in Singapore, I ended up for 2 nights at the St Regis earlier this week. I would not recommend it as a replacement for the Raffles or MO any time soon but something I realized is that the area where it is located a step away from Orchard is very tranquil and has great access to the Botanic Gardens (which is a delight to jog in), This makes me curious about the nearby 4S which I have yet to try, but I've noticed it draws some ire on this forum.

I’m also considering Marina Bay Sands for access to the iconic pool but not sure if it’s a good idea. Any thoughts on MBS? MO? Thank you!
The MBS has a great location and fairly good hard product but the service and staff training is just not up to the same level as some of the other places mentioned. This appears to be a general theme in Singapore and becomes very glaring when (like I just did) have a back-to-back stays between Singapore and Bangkok where the latter will have a very natural and genuine level of service even in mid-range hotels like Anatara, Shangri-la and Kempinski. MBS is also a major tourist destination and will almost always be fairly crowded in public as well as private areas.
