Call me a moderate optimist. I think so many flights were disrupted early in the day that the flight crews will actually be fine tomorrow AM. I bet there are some delays and some cancelations, but nothing massive and widespread. I'm seeing airframes that were supposed to depart from remote airports in the 8-10a hour that have been parked all day.
Tough to predict. If it had been an event that hit ATL in the morning and then moved on, they’d be starting the recovery process already and be in good shape for tomorrow.
But there’s still a DL-only FAA delay program for ATL, with average delays of five hours.
Just in the last 90 minutes there have been almost 150 new cancellations. It’s almost 830p in ATL and there are new cancellations every time I refresh the page.
These last minute cancellations, with passengers at the airport and thinking they’d already be at their destinations, don’t bode well for a smooth start up tomorrow.
