UA to UK Post 8 Jan 2025 -- Process to Confirm ETA?

Anyone flown UA to UK since January 8? I am curious how they are handling the new ETA requirement. I have a flight next week to LHR and UA says I'm not Travel Ready and must bring my passport to show an agent, but the ETA is document-less. From what I've read, it's linked to one's passport number that can be confirmed electronically at UK immigration, but curious how UA can confirm it on its end. I hope this doesn't mean the end of online check-in / BP for UK flights . . . hopefully just temporary. I realize this is an issue for all carriers, not just UA, but asking specifically for recent UA check-in experiences. Nonetheless, if there is some general UK ETA thread elsewhere to which the mods think this post should be moved, no problem. Thanks.
