There is no compensation if you do it like this, since AY is acting accordingly to your wishes. Compensation is only due if the airline is force you to do something you don t wanna do. But you always can accept the downgrade and ask for the compensation instead. (I never would).

i.e. if AY rebooks you on a different flight, with a connection somewhere and you end up 3+ hours late this gives you the right of compensation as well as a downgrade on your original flight. If you ask to fly the next day, regardless which class, and you will arrive late by more then 3 hours, no compensation is due.
